Canadian Institute for Health Information copyediting

1 min read

The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) collects, analyzes and shares comparable and actionable data that supports health-care system improvement across Canada. To help achieve its mission, the organization turned to Ascribe to ensure its written materials were accurate, clear and free of errors.

How Ascribe helped

In 2021, we began an on-call relationship with CIHI to provide editing support for a wide range of documents, including guides, bulletins, emails, toolkits, data collection templates and reports. These documents are often highly technical and require precise language. CIHI called on us to provide line-by-line copyediting, drawing on our team’s meticulous attention to detail.

For each project, we look closely at every sentence to ensure it clearly conveys the intended meaning. We watch for typos, misspellings and other grammatical errors. Through close reference to CIHI’s house style guide, we ensure consistency in the use of capitalization, numerals, bullets, punctuation and more. We also check that all references are correctly formatted, confirm that any hyperlinks point to the right place, and ensure headings are structured appropriately and consistently throughout the document.

By ensuring CIHI’s documentation is accurate and consistent, we support the organization’s mission of improving health outcomes across the country through better data.
